Lulu is a reporter and documentary film student at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. While newspapers are her first love, she is interested in exploring the common threads of everyday life through documentary filmmaking.
She is currently working on a documentary as a co-producer at San Quentin State Prison, a story about four juvenile lifers growing up behind bars and their journeys into adulthood within the prison walls.
Born in Mexico and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lulu is passionate about criminal justice, the environment and social inequality issues. Her work has appeared in a number of publications such as the Associated Press, Monterey County Weekly, the San Francisco Public Press, El Tecolote, and The Bubble.
